Music

Central’s music ministries aim to cultivate and use the musical gifts of the members of Central as vocalists and instrumentalists to the glory of God.  If you sing and/or play an instrument and would like to explore ways to be involved in Central’s music ministries, please contact Matt Mazzoni, Director of Music.

Choir

Our choirs are a great place to share the joy of making music and to find fellowship and community. There are no auditions; each choir has singers who read music very well and singers who say they can carry a tune but know little about music.

Chancel Choir

This choir sings for Sunday services at 9am throughout the year and for special services and concerts.  The Chancel Choir welcomes adults and college students (interested high school students are welcome to inquire also), and rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. All are welcome, regardless of experience and ability. Childcare is available.

Children's Choir: Grades 2-5

This choir sings for worship occasionally through the year, as well as for special occasions including the Christmas Concert. They rehearse on Sunday mornings following Sunday School (10:10 am) in the Duplex. Everyone is invited to attend, regardless of previous experience.

Choristers: 3-4 years & Grades K-1

Our Choristers meet each Sunday morning as part of the 9:00 am Children’s Ministry program to learn about music, practice songs, and have fun! They learn to sing together and their music emphasizes the character and goodness of God, and sing in a worship service occasionally during the fall and spring.

Instrumentalists

Instrumental musicians are welcome to be part of the music ministry! The 9:00 am worship service regularly feature handbells, brass, strings, and timpani.  There are also opportunities for other string, wind, brass, keyboard, or percussion instrumentalists (e.g., guitar, violin, cello, flute, etc.). The 10:45 service is most often led in worship by an ensemble including piano, guitar, bass, percussion (cajon, djembe, etc.) and other instruments such as mandolin, flute, trumpet, strings, even harmonica! A string ensemble plays monthly throughout most of the year.

Brass Ensemble

Our brass ensemble meets each Thursday evening at 8:00 pm to learn music and to play together. They play for Sunday worship services approximately once per month. If you play a trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, or tuba, consider joining us at a rehearsal!

Handbell Choirs

The Chancel Ringers rehearse on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm in the choir room. Music reading skills is necessary, but previous experience in a handbell choir is not. They play for Sunday worship services approximately one per month through the fall and spring.
