Music

Central’s music ministries aim to cultivate and use the musical gifts of the members of Central as vocalists and instrumentalists to the glory of God.  If you sing and/or play an instrument and would like to explore ways to be involved in Central’s music ministries, please click the button below.

Choir

Our choirs are a great place to find fellowship and community, and a wonderful place to practice the art of praise. There are no auditions, and each choir has singers who read music very well and singers who say they can carry a tune but know nothing about music.

Chancel Choir

Our adult and college choir sings for Sunday services at 9am throughout the year and for special services. They rehearse each Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the chancel. All are welcome, regardless of experience and ability. Childcare is available.

VOX SPIRITUS: GRADES 2-8

This choir, who’s name means ‘voice of the spirit’ sings for worship once a month, and meets each Wednesday at 5:50pm-6:30pm to practice.  Everyone is invited to attend, regardless of previous experience.

CHORISTERS: GRADES K-1

Our Choristers meet each Sunday morning as part of the 9:45am Children’s Ministry program to learn about music, practice songs, and have fun! They learn to sing together and their music emphasizes the character and goodness of God, and sing in a worship service occasionally during the fall and spring.

Handbell Choirs

The Chancel Ringers rehearse on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm in the choir room. Music reading skills is necessary, but previous experience in a handbell choir is not. They play for Sunday worship services approximately one per month through the fall and spring.

Instrumentalists

The 9am worship service in Clayton regularly feature handbells, brass, strings, and timpani.  There are also opportunities for other instrumentalists, e.g., guitar, violin, cello, and other string instruments as well as woodwinds.  The 10:45 service is most often led in worship by musicians playing such instruments piano; guitar; bass; cello; cajon, djembe, or drum set; and harmonica.  A string ensemble plays monthly throughout most of the year.

Brass Ensemble

Our brass ensemble meets each Thursday evening at 6:30pm to learn music and to play together. They play for Sunday worship services approximately once per month. If you play a trumpet, horn, or trombone and are interested in joining us, please click the button below.
