2012 Winter EquipCentral
January 11 - March 21

EquipCentral is Central’s midweek all-church dinner and dialogue.  If you are looking for a place to get to know people better in a casual setting, join us for dinner at 5:30.  Classes, studies and discussion groups for adults meet afterward.  Youth groups and children’s classes also meet.  EquipCentral helps us to be a very big church that feels more like a small church community. You may download a registration blank below or pick up a registration form in the lobby or narthex and return it to Ashley Sell after completion. The Winter, 2012 EquipCentral session runs from January 11 - March 21. Spring Break is March 28. During the four Wednesdays in April, EquipCentral will only include the dinners.

Adult Classes

Wednesdays, January 11 - March 21

Choir – Phil Rowland – Sanctuary
(the choir meets until 8:00 p.m.)
The choir is a great place to find fellowship and community at Central, but more importantly, it is the place to practice the art of praise.  Our choir prides itself on excellence and accessibility.  Whether you have a degree in vocal performance or just know how to carry a tune, this is the place for you.
    •   Learn great music and good singing techniques with great people
    •   Hide scripture in your heart as you sing it
    •   Lead God’s people in worship
    •   Sing at our Christmas Concert
Choir members commit to a semester at a time and have the privilege of singing in at least one service each Sunday.

Jam Session: Jazz as Sacred Journey ~ Tag Tuck ~ Parlor

For many people, jazz may represent music that is either esoteric, cool, or corny. Saxophonist and seminarian Tag Tuck will lead the class to explore this unique American art form by listening together to live (yes live!) and recorded music. Through a dialogue about the harmonization of the curse and the cross we will learn together about jazz music and its power to propel us toward a sacred journey. Bring your ears, your questions, your curiosity and join us.

Grace Centered Leadership ~ Bob Burns ~ Classroom B

Effective trans-generational leadership for the church and the world must have a systems perspective rooted in the gospel. We call it Grace Leadership: the art of creating shared urgency from a framework of humility and conviction – humility based on the mercy of God and conviction based on kingdom values.

The Silence of Adam ~ David Gill ~ Gathering Place

Few would question that men in our culture often fall into a mode of passivity.  But is this something new, or does this come from the core of our sin nature through Adam?  In this class we invite you to come together with other men and address these questions and many others.  Together we will seek to understand in a deeper way what biblical manhood looks like.  To help us process this, we will be going through the book “The Silence of Adam” by Larry Crabb.

Book Study:  Pride & Prejudice ~ Robbie Griggs ~ Classroom A

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin is not simply a romance.  It is a study of the fallibility of first impressions, the distinction between decorum and decency.  Through careful observation of the changing perceptions of her chief characters—Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy—Austin provides profound insight into the human condition and…writes an epic romance.  Join us as we discuss Ms. Austin’s witty and penetrating book.
