About the Event

Sunday School for Adults

We were not created to walk through life alone.  God made us in his image, and so we are designed to flourish best when we are part of the family of God.  Jesus came to renew and fulfill God's mission of salvation by forming a spiritual family, united to God and one another by jesus; own life and love. Christians do not only have a private, personal relationship with Christ. We are members of Christ's body and sisters and brothers to one another in Christ, and thus we can only grow in spiritual maturity and wisdom by worshipping, learning, and serving in the community of God's people.

We invite you to commit yourself fully to God and his people by participating in Central's ministries of spiritual formation. We have many groups designed to help you become like Jesus Christ as you learn the word of God and the ways of God together with the family of God. These classes and communities are places to connect and belong, to know and be known, to be accepted by the grace of Christ and to be transformed by the power and love of Christ in every aspect of your life. With something available for every member of your family, we hope that you will find your place and your purpose in the family of God at Central.

Adult Sunday School Communities

Young Adults

Mike Farley, Cole Lescher, Carl & Amanda Lothman | 10-11:00 a.m. (Meeting Room 2C in Student Center)

This community for young adults from college through 20s & 30s is a great place to connect, grow, and learn.  Our meetings include time to share life’s joys and struggles and to pray for one another and an interactive teaching that fosters group discussion.  During the remainder of the winter/spring semester, women’s ministry director, Jamie Afshari, will lead a study of the Old Testament wisdom book of Job, Pastor Mike Farley will lead a short study of the problem of evil, and Pastor Cole Lescher will lead a study of the Old Testament wisdom book of Ecclesiastes.  These books will help us develop true wisdom, which is skill in the art of godly living.  Job and Ecclesiastes help us follow God while learning our limitations in confronting suffering and other great mysteries as created beings who cannot know all that God knows.

My Sunday Family

Tyler Stephens, Thom Avery | 10-11:00 a.m. (Classrooms A & B)

My Sunday Family is a community seeking to connect and support each other to learn how to follow Christ together as the family of God.  Our meetings always include teaching and small group discussion as well as time to share life’s joys and struggles and to pray for one another.  During the remainder of the winter/spring semester, Vicki Tatko will lead a study of the Old Testament prophetic book of Jonah.  In Jonah, we will examine the challenges and blessings of following God and his call to share the truth of God compassionately with our neighbors.

Navigators

Sam Chimento, John McGowan | 10-11:00 a.m. (Sanctuary)

Navigators is a community of mixed ages and stages that seeks to deepen faith and develop relationships.  During the remainder of the winter/spring semester, Sam Chimento and John McGowan will lead a study of the Old Testament wisdom books of Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.  These books will help us develop true wisdom, which is skill in the art of godly living.  Proverbs teaches us to notice the spiritual and moral order of God’s world in the realities we experience in daily life.  Job and Ecclesiastes help us follow God while learning our limitations in confronting suffering and other great mysteries as created beings who cannot know all that God knows.

Gleaners

Neal Nielsen | 10-11:00 a.m. (Parlor)

Gleaners is a group of men and women of mixed ages, marital status, and biblical knowledge. Each semester we study a book of the Bible, and we seek to apply it to our lives and seek greater obedience and faithfulness to the glory of God. During the winter/spring semester, we will study the book of Hosea. The theme of Hosea is God's love for his people, Israel, in spite of their idolatry. Therefore, some writers have referred to Hosea as the St. John of the Old Testament. We will look at the implications of God's moral commands to Hosea and how that may apply to our present day. Join us as we study God's unending love for his people.

Classes last for approximately 1 hour. If you have questions, or would like help finding the right opportunity for you, please contact Pastor Mike Farley.
