Sunday School for Adults

We invite you to connect with God's word and the Central community by participating in Central's ministries of spiritual formation. We have many groups designed to help you become like Jesus Christ as you learn the word of God and the ways of God together with the family of God. These classes and communities are places to connect and belong, to know and be known, to be accepted by the grace of Christ and to be transformed by the power and love of Christ in every aspect of your life. With something available for every member of your family, we hope that you will find your place and your purpose in the family of God at Central. 

Adult Sunday School Communities

Young Adults and friends

Mike Farley, Cole Lescher, Carl & Amanda Lothman | 10-11:00 a.m. (Sanctuary)

This community for young adults from college through 20s & 30s is a great place to connect, grow, and learn.  Our meetings include time to share life’s joys and struggles and to pray for one another and an interactive teaching that fosters group discussion.  During the fall semester, Pastor Mike Farley will lead a study of the biblical theme of union with Christ. Being a Christian is not merely a matter of beliefs or actions; rather, it is most fundamentally a relationship of close communion with God. Union with Christ by the Holy Spirit is the way that our Father in heaven gives us salvation so that he comes to live with us and in us to undo all of the effects of sin and death. Come join us as we explore the many gifts that God gives us in union with Christ so that we can have full confidence in living out the riches of his grace and life.

My Sunday Family

Tyler Stephens, Thom Avery | 10-11:00 a.m. (Classrooms A & B)

My Sunday Family is a community seeking to connect and support each other to learn how to follow Christ together as the family of God.  Our meetings always include teaching and group discussion as well as time to share life’s joys and struggles and to pray for one another.  During the fall semester, Tyler Stephens will lead a study of the biblical theme of food as a symbol of the gospel. Starting in the garden of Eden, where God provided food as a symbol of life with God, and where humanity rebelled over a matter of food, we will examine the way that God uses food throughout biblical history as a means of teaching profound spiritual truths. In Scripture, food is not only God's provision for our physical needs, but it is also a tangible expression of God's faithfulness as  a means of grace by which we experience communion with God and others. In eating with people, Jesus embodied the kingdom of God in loving hospitality toward neighbors and strangers, and in the sacrament of the Lord's Supper he gives us his life in a way that draws together God's past, present, and future grace. Join us as we learn how God uses food in the Bible to tell us and fill us with the gospel of his life and love. 

Navigators

Sam Chimento, John McGowan | 10-11:00 a.m. (meeting room 2c in student center)

Navigators is a community of mixed ages and stages that seeks to deepen faith and develop relationships.  During the fall semester, Sam Chimento and John McGowan will lead a study of the Old Testament books 1 and 2 Samuel. These historical books are stories about God's faithfulness to his promise to form his people Israel into a kingdom led by David, a poet-warrior king who was deeply flawed but still a man after God's own heart. It is a story of unlikely heroes, friendship and betrayal, marriage and family strife, and God's ability to show his strength in weakness. Join us to learn how God's faithfulness rescues, protects, and restores broken people and a broken world, ultimately through the promised King Jesus, the greater David who establishes a new and eternal covenant and kingdom. 

Gleaners

Neal Nielsen | 10-11:00 a.m. (Parlor)

Gleaners is a group of men and women of mixed ages, marital status, and biblical knowledge. Each semester we study a book of the Bible, and we seek to apply it to our lives and seek greater obedience and faithfulness to the glory of God. During the fall semester, we will study the gospel of Matthew. Matthew is an account of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus that places special emphasis on Jesus' fulfillment of the whole story of God's work through the people and history of Israel. Matthew shows how Jesus is the promised Messiah-King in the line of David who is also a new Moses establishing a new and eternal covenant relationship between God and his people based on his death and resurrection for us. Matthew also contains some of Jesus; best loved teaching, including the famous Sermon on the Mount. Join us as Matthew takes us through the life of Jesus and shows us the compelling majesty and power of the Messiah who radically changed his life and called him to proclaim the good news of Jesus to the world.
