Winter Classes

Nursery & Early Childhood

The nursery is available for children 8 weeks to 3 years old.

8 weeks to 2 years: Nursery (first floor, Early Childhood wing)

3 years to Pre-K: Elephant Room (second floor, Early Childhood wing)

Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Koala Room (second floor, Early Childhood wing)

Elementary

When we are first learning, the image of God that we bear is like a sketch; somewhat rough and one-dimensional, yet still bearing His image. Then, after time and growth, the image may become more like a photo; more detailed and with a sense of shape. We’ve designed the weekly discussions, community building activities, and connections to the arts so that they may highlight the image-bearing qualities of our elementary students.

2nd & 3rd Grades: Duplex 1st Floor

4th & 5th Grades: Duplex 2nd Floor

Junior High | Student Center

"Crowded House" | How does the whole Bible fit together? Is there a single story that unites all the different people, stories, and doctrines found in it? There is! God is telling one epic story in the pages of Scripture.  Come join us and discover what God’s Big Story is, and the role you play in it.

Adults

Knowing Justice and Doing Justice
Dr. Mike Farley | Parlor

In scripture, God tells us over and over that he cares passionately about justice. Over and over, God tells us that doing justice is expressed in his care for the fatherless, widows, the poor, the stranger, and for all the powerless and vulnerable.

How can Central do that today in our city? This class is an opportunity to learn together about the problems in our city, and how these issues relate to matters of justice according to scripture, and how we should we think about them from a Christian perspective. They are also a time to talk and dream together about how God might send us together to be part of his healing work in our region.

March 8: Emily Nienhuis from One Heart Family Ministries will speak about foster care and adoption.

March 22: Doug Merkey from Churches for Life joins us to talk about abortion and caring for women facing crisis pregnancies.

March 29 & April 5: Dr. Paul Patterson from New City Fellowship will speak on the post-Civil War history of St. Louis and explore how we became a racially and economically divided city.

April 19, 26, & May 3: Dr.s Greg Perry and Vince Bantu from Covenant Seminary will talk about dealing with race, poverty, and criminal justice in St. Louis. April 26 will be a panel discussion facilitated by Dr.s Perry and Bantu and feature Central members who will share personal stories about the special challenges that minorities face. The class on May 3 addresses broader challenges of race, poverty, and criminal justice across the St. Louis region, with some personal testimony from a Christian law enforcement officer.

Conversational Apologetics: How to Give Reasons for Your Faith in Dialogue
Jeremy Smith, Faith Ascent Ministries | Gathering Place

This course will help you gain an understanding of some common objections to the Christian faith and how to have a productive dialogue about them.  The course provides instruction about evidence and reasoning that supports the Christian faith through lectures and class discussions of some short reading assignments.  Class sessions will also furnish regular opportunities to practice methods for engaging respectfully and effectively in conversation with people who are curious and skeptical about Christianity.  Due to the highly interactive nature of this training, attendance will be limited to 20 participants. Please use the form below to register FOR THIS CLASS ONLY.

Women’s Bible Study
Jamie Afshari and Linda Farley | Classroom A

This group provides a place for women of all ages to grow spiritually by learning and applying God’s word and by connecting with one another in discussion and prayer to encourage and support one another in following Christ and his mission.  During the winter/spring semester, the group will study Jesus’ parables.

Men’s Bible Study

Bob Denckhoff | Library

This group provides a place for men of all ages to grow spiritually by learning and applying God’s word and by connecting with one another in discussion and prayer to encourage and support one another in following Christ and his mission.  During the winter/spring semester, the group will study Romans.  Bob likes to call this study “a business man’s perspective on Romans,” because the class focuses on applying the Bible’s teaching to the practical, daily concerns of working men.

Single Mothers Group
Tina Holland, Nancy Kay, Peggy Morgan | Classroom B
