Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect visiting Central?
Central is a diverse church community.  Our services and locations reflect a variety of worship styles—from casual and eclectic to relatively formal and liturgical.  But, whatever the style of our worship, we strive to be a friendly and inviting community for anyone.  While many in our community are lifelong followers of Jesus, there are a number of people who are completely new to the Christian faith and exploring faith for the first time.

What will the worship service be like?
In Worship at Central, we seek worship that is God-honoring, biblically faithful, excellent, and congregationally engaging. Worship is a response of the whole person to God and what he has done. So, our worship is focused on God and saturated with his word—in prayer, in song, in reading, in preaching. Our worship is focused on congregational participation, engaging the whole assembly in singing, praying, reading, and listening.

What are the sermons like?
Our preaching team, led by Dr. Doriani, seeks to present the truth of Christ and God’s word in a way that engages the hearts and minds of the congregation.  We seek to do this with clarity, depth, and passion, so that those who hear can understand and apply the truth to their own lives.  Our series typically cover an entire biblical book to promote depth of understanding and life application, but we often offer topical series to examine what the whole Bible says about any given issue. What about my kids?
KidCentral offers a variety of learning environments for kids ages 8 weeks through 5th grade. In all of our programs and events, we strive to provide children with a kid-friendly, secure environment where they feel welcomed and are encouraged to trust Jesus to be the sure foundation for their lives.  For KidCentral—Chesterfield, click here.  For KidCentral—Clayton, click here.

What should I wear?
There is no dress code at Central. Though our different services and locations have differing styles, you won’t be out of place whatever you wear.  Trio and our Chesterfield location tend to be more casual, and Sunday morning at Clayton tends to be more business casual, with a number of people wearing suits. All that being said, wear whatever you are comfortable in.

What does Central believe?
We are Evangelical and Reformed in our convictions and Presbyterian in our form of church government, being founding members of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Many religious and non-religious people have found Central to be a comfortable place to explore the claims of Jesus and the truth of the Bible. Because we are secure in our faith in Jesus and the orthodox Christian faith, we seek to dialogue with anybody about anything. For more on our core convictions and beliefs, click here.
