About Us

The Samaritan Group exists to minister to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the friends and families of the mentally ill in our congregation and community. Our group sessions offer support and insight into the difficulties people face when confronted with a loved one with a mental illness. Our group sessions are open to the public and we openly welcome all family and friends of the chemically imbalanced who are in need of Christian support.

The Samaritan Group was started due to the request of an individual struggling with a BiPolar Disorder. He was concerned that his marriage might not make it without support for his wife. The stigma of mental illness, a lack of educational information, as well as the stress of a chronic health issue requires a great deal of strength for all involved. We believe that Strength is attained through the power of Christ lived out in fellowship and love.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Services

The Samaritan Group comes alongside individuals and families in a variety of ways. Read the descriptions below to see which support method is the best fit for you.

Samaritan Group - Group MeetingGroup Meetings
The Samaritan Group meets on the second Saturday morning of each month at 10:00am in Classroom B, the lower level of the Central Presbyterian Church building. You do not have to be a member of Central to attend. Meeting dates for the balance of 2010 - July 10, August 14, September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11.

Samaritan Group - Individual SupportIndividual Support
The personal relationships that group members develop with each other is a key component of the Samaritan Group. While group meetings take place once a month, many individuals find (and give!) extra support outside of the group by meeting independently with fellow group members. We welcome all family and friends of the chemically imbalanced who are in need of Christian support.

Samaritan Group - PrayerPrayer Partners
The Samaritan Group is committed to praying for the needs of our support group families and loved ones. We dedicate ourselves to prayer both inside and outside of our group meetings.
