Beyond Housing
Beyond Housing, a chartered member of NeighborWorks (registered), is the leading provider of housing and housing-related services for low-income families in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The mission of Beyond Housing is to strengthen neighborhoods, one family at a time. The organization delivers a wide variety of effective programs that have become the model for other regions throughout the United States.
The programs include:
• Service-Enriched Rental Housing in St. Louis County
• Home buyers’ education training in several jurisdictions throughout the region
• Foreclosure prevention and intervention services
• 24:1 Initiative of comprehensive community-building activities in the Normandy School District.
• Youth Activities: Summer Camp, After-School Program, Freedom School Summer Program, youth baseball and football, computer labs and library
• Volunteer Opportunities: Home Crews, Holiday Friends
In addition, Beyond Housing owns and maintains roughly 341 affordable rental properties in more than 23 municipalities in St. Louis County in a program called Home Crews. In both 2009 & 2010 teams from Central participated in several Home Crew projects.
Home Crews are volunteers from the community who contribute their time and talent to help hold the line on the costs of routine property maintenance without compromising Beyond Housing’s high standards for quality living. If you would like to find out more information about the Home Crews volunteer opportunities visit Beyond Housing’s website at http://www.beyondhousing.org/volunteer.
