Grace and Peace Women's Shelter

Grace & Peace Women’s Shelter on Delmar Boulevard demonstrates God’s loving grace to 16 women from November through March by providing them with food, a warm bed and people who care about them. As a result of this ministry, women are given the opportunity to attend weekly Bible study. In addition, all of the women are given the opportunity to participate in conflict resolution counseling to learn effective ways to cooperate with each other. Staff and volunteers also model biblical conflict resolution aimed at being real peacemakers – much different than the survival skills they must use on the street.

Grace and Peace Fellowship as well as many other churches in the St. Louis area support this ministry.

Central has supported the shelter too! During Christmas of 2009, the children at Central Christian School gave each woman a rolling suitcase. Before receiving the suitcases, some of the woman had to carry all of their belongings in garbage bags. Now, with the suitcases, they blend in with other people on Delmar heading to the Metro Station. Also, each week, by preparing a little extra food for EquipCentral, we provide the Thursday evening meal for the women at the shelter.
