MINISTRY

SERVING AS: Associate Director of Liturgical Arts

DUTIES: I oversee and coordinate everything connected to the music for the 11:15 service.

PASSIONS: I love making music with friends in any conceivable setting. I also get a kick out of bringing people together and watching God make the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY & LIFE: You can't give away what you don't already have, and you can't lead people to places you aren't wiling to go yourself.

Bachelor of Music, Piano Performance, Indiana University (1994-1997)

Master of Music, Piano Performance, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1998-2000)

Master of Arts in Worship and Music, Covenant Seminary (2009-)

FAVORITES

SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 – "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."

QUOTE: "I always think I'm right, but I don't think I'm always right." –Keith Ghormley

MUSIC: I lean toward classical (especially neoclassicism) and jazz (bebop – our wedding dance was to Coleman Hawkins' Body and Soul), but I like almost any kind of music.

MOVIES: Every movie I thought of was originally a book, so I guess I'd rather read.

HOBBIES: I enjoy reading, watching movies, having coffee with friends, and writing music.

FOODS: There's an Italian restaurant called The Krone in Otterberg, Germany – their gnocchi gorgonzola is to die for. Also, crab cakes at Sting-Rays Truck Stop in Cape Charles, VA are worth the drive. I also like McDonald's vanilla milkshakes.

STRANGE BUT TRUE: I grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA, and my family went to a Korean Presbyterian Church that met in the church where Fred Rogers was an elder. I loved telling the kids at school that I went to church with Mr. Rogers.
