Regardless of our backgrounds or current life circumstances, we all are drawn to stories of hope, joy, and redemption. We love when good triumphs over evil.
Whether you enjoy the beauty and majesty of Forest Park's historic World's Fair Pavilion at sunrise or the tradition of Easter in Central's sanctuary, we encourage you to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join you and hear the gospel proclaimed and celebrate with us this ultimate story of "hope rising."
At Easter we celebrate the fulfillment of the gospel on the cross and at the empty tomb. But there's one event that separates those two—the resurrection.
Easter Week Details
Palm Sunday | Mar 25, 9 & 10:45am
On Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus’ final triumphal entry into Jerusalem with the loud praise of large crowds lining his way, and we will also have our own procession of praise with a children’s choir singing and carrying palms. Jesus’ apparent triumph, however, turned to tragedy. Jesus willingly entered into conflict with the leaders who would put him to death in just a few days, and thus we will leave the service praying for the same courage and faithfulness from Jesus with a song about his turn from triumph to death for us.
Holy Thursday | Mar 29, 7pm
Sometimes called "maundy" (meaning commandment), Holy Thursday honors the day Jesus celebrated the Passover with his disciples at the Last Supper. In the context of Holy Week, it refers to the commandment Jesus gave to his disciples while washing their feet:
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
- John 13:34-35
Good Friday | Mar 30, 7pm
The Good Friday service is a "tenebrae" service. Tenebrae means "darkness" or "shadows", and focuses our attentions on Christ's sufferings. Readings trace the story of Christ's passion, and are designed to remind us of the solemnity and weight of our Savior's sacrifice for us.
