Sunday School for Adults

We were not created to walk through life alone.  God made us in his image, and so we are designed to flourish best when we are part of the family of God.  Jesus came to renew and fulfill God’s mission of salvation by forming a spiritual family, united to God and one another by Jesus’ own life and love.  Christians do not only have a private, personal relationship with Christ.  We are members of Christ’s body and sisters and brothers to one another in Christ, and thus we can only grow in spiritual maturity and wisdom by worshipping, learning, and serving in the community of God’s people.

We invite you to commit yourself fully to God and his people by participating in Central’s ministries of spiritual formation.  We have many groups designed to help you become like Jesus Christ as you learn the word of God and the ways of God together with the family of God.  These classes and communities are places to connect and belong, to know and be known, to be accepted by the grace of Christ and to be transformed by the power and love of Christ in every aspect of your life.  With something available for every member of your family, we hope that you will find your place and your purpose in the family of God at Central.

Adult Sunday School Communities

Young Adults

Mike Farley, Cole Lescher, Carl & Amanda Lothman | 9:00 a.m. (Classroom B)

This community for young adults from college through 20s & 30s is a great place to connect, grow, and learn.  During the fall semester, John Murray, the head of Central Christian School, will lead a study titled “Imagemakers: Hollywood Meets the Apostles Creed,” which will examine how the basic beliefs of the Christian faith summarized in the Apostles’ Creed are portrayed in the media—both positively and negatively—and how we can learn to be discerning and to filter media through a biblical worldview.

My Sunday Family

Tyler Stephens | 9:00 a.m. (Parlor)

My Sunday Family is a community seeking to connect and support each other to learn how to follow Christ together as the family of God.  Our meetings always include teaching and small group discussion as well as time to share life’s joys and struggles and to pray for one another.  During the fall semester, we will study the religious, moral, and technological challenges of the rapidly changing culture.  Our focus will be to understand our culture and respond with God’s wisdom to help children, youth, and young adults in the church grow in faith and remain committed to the church and to help adults know how to respond with God’s love and discern what it means to be faithful to God and his word in our present cultural age.

Navigators

Dave Dunlap and John McGowan | 9:00 a.m. (Gathering Place)

Navigators is a community of mixed ages and stages that seeks to deepen faith and develop relationships.  During the fall semester, Dave and John will lead a study titled “Gospel-Shaped Service to Others.”  We will study service in light of the gospel, as modeled for us by Jesus, his disciples, the prophets, and other men and women leaders throughout scripture.   Our prayer is that we will learn together how to become better Christ-like servants who use our gifts and opportunities to serve others and display the love and glory of God more faithfully.

Gleaners

Neal Nielsen | 10:30 a.m. (Parlor)

Gleaners is a group of men and women of mixed group of ages, marital status, and biblical knowledge who study the Bible to apply it to their lives and seek greater obedience and faithfulness to the glory of God.  During the fall semester, we will study the life of Moses in Exodus 3-20 in order to learn how God calls and enables us by his grace and power to be servant-leaders in all the places where he leads us.
