Missions Weekend 2022

by Ceci Bartels on September 23, 2022

We couldn't be more excited to share with you the exciting plans we have for this year’s Mission’s weekend happening October 14-16. With a variety of events happening over the entire weekend, you have a lot of opportunities to participate in the fun!

Friday Evening

Friday night, at 6pm, we kick off the weekend with a casual, "coming home" kind of vibe in Fellowship Hall. Old friends and new friends will be gathering to greet, welcome, and chat with some of our missionaries. Be sure to make it into the mix. There’ll be snacks and world music to set the tone for the evening.

The Central Christian School and Central Children’s Choirs will be our first musical guests, followed by the Nepalese praise band, and then a group from the Iranian church.

Later, we’ll move up into the sanctuary for the first concert series program of the season. The children's choirs will open the concert followed by the Ukrainian youth group. Next, Michael Sust and family will blow us away with their musical program, and Dr. Igor Yaremchuk, from Ukraine, will share a message, and we’ll end the night with the praise and worship music of our very own All Star Band!

Saturday Evening

Saturday night, at 6pm Clay’s sermon series, “At the Table,” comes to life with a progressive dinner on our campus. Titled, “At the Table with our Missionaries,” you’ll be sharing a table with the Yaremchuks, from Ukraine, our missionaries from the Philippines, and Michael Miller from the Micah Project in Honduras.

Heads up! Michael Miller is bringing two chefs from the Micah house culinary project who will prepare the main course for our evening!

This is a free event BUT reservations ARE REQUIRED AND LIMITED. To get your seat at the table, please watch for registrations to open on Wednesday, September 28. Dress for the evening is "snappy."

If your thing is to be part of the night’s fun and action in a more intimate way as a helper, please contact Ceci Bartels at 314-359-0819 or and she’ll get you on that list. Meal provided.

Sunday

During our worship services on Sunday morning, the entire congregation will chance to hear about the transformative work the Lord is doing around the world through testimonies and a sermon from our Ukrainian missionary, Dr. Igor Yaremchuk. During the Sunday school hour, missionaries will be visiting the classes for both kids and adults. You’re going to be able to get up close and personal with one of our missionaries. You’ll be able to hear about their work and ask them questions.

Following the second service, we’re going to have the wildly popular Mission’s lunch in Fellowship Hall. There’ll be updates, introductions, fun and prizes, and a delicious lunch from Julie’s kitchen. The usual right? It’s a great way to wrap up a great weekend.

Going forward. We hope you’ll end the weekend with the realization that everyone’s a missionary for the kingdom of God and that you want to be in the mix with missions at Central.
This fall, the Missions Team is meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in the Parlor. Come join us. Participate. It's such an exciting ministry. We pray, support, build relationships, and share what God is doing around the block and around the world. We hope to see you there. No reservation required – just show up!
