Conversations about Faith

In a religiously diverse society, conversations about spiritual questions can be difficult. This class explores ways to move toward our neighbors with a Christlike heart of compassion and to build bridges toward respectful, fruitful conversations with our neighbors about religious questions. In the first half, the course examines overcoming various obstacles to good conversations, the power of building on common ground, and asking good questions to deepen understanding and relationships. In the second half, we will study how to show the personal relevance, beauty, and truth of the Christian faith in dialogue with secular views of freedom, morality, happiness, suffering, and hope.
