The Central Legacy Plan, established in 2023 by our Session, seeks to ensure that we, by God’s grace, will continue to proclaim God’s enduring truth for future generations. We will do this by reinvesting in and expanding our current campus through strategically prioritized projects, made possible through estate gifts from Central Legacy Society members.
Our Session has established the first three projects for this initiative, outlined in what we are calling the “Legacy Roadmap.” The first three projects include a Sanctuary enhancement project to update our worship space; an update to our Early Childhood wing; and the construction of a new multi-story addition that would dramatically expand our indoor ministry space.
Current Legacy Projects
Sanctuary Enhancement
Our sanctuary is beautiful, but it is also tiring beneath the wear and tear that comes from so much use. Annual maintenance keeps it in relatively good working order, but the space is in need of significant refurbishment and enhancement in order to be a blessing (and not a maintenance burden) to future generations. This project will provide a range of improvements that will enhance the beauty and functionality of our sanctuary.
Possible elements: New flooring, Chancel refurbishment, pew refurbishment, musical instrument maintenance and replacement, lighting, roofing, A/V and online worship enhancements.
Approximate cost range: $1 - 2 million

Early Childhood Wing
Today, our Early Childhood Wing is teeming with ministry activity throughout the week. From Sunday school to our PEEPs program, we serve hundreds of children every week. All of the use is taking its toll, and it is well past time to breathe new life into this special part of our campus. Final project scope would need to be further refined, but we know for sure that the following major infrastructure items will need significant investment:
Window replacement, bathroom renovations, fire exits, and other miscellaneous improvements (furniture, carpet, etc.).

Legacy Center
While our current campus is relatively land-locked, we do have an open space between the church garage and the sanctuary on which a new addition could be constructed. Building a new “Legacy Center” in this space would serve to create a more welcoming entrance onto our campus. It would also provide a significant amount of additional space for evangelism, discipleship and fellowship. Final program details would need to be further refined, but prior plans for this space envisioned the following:
24,000 - 32,000 additional square-footage (3-4 stories), large gathering/fellowship space, main level atrium/lobby/welcome area, additional classrooms, improved handicap accessibility, and direct indoor connection between Biltmore and Hanley.

What is a legacy gift, and why is it important?
A gift to the Central Legacy Plan is a way of participating in God’s ongoing faithfulness from one generation to the next. Just as those who came before us made sacrifices so that Central could flourish in their time, a legacy gift today allows us to extend that same faithfulness into the future. It is not simply about preserving buildings or expanding our campus—it is about ensuring that the Word of God continues to be proclaimed and lived out for generations to come.
How should I begin thinking about this?
Begin with prayer. Reflect on God’s faithfulness in your life and consider how you might be part of His faithfulness for generations to come. There is no pressure—only an invitation. As those who have gone before us made a way for today, we now have the opportunity to help make a way for tomorrow.
How can I participate in the legacy plan?
There are a variety of ways to participate in the Legacy Plan, either now or in the future. Designed for estate/end-of-life giving, the traditional way to participate in the Legacy Plan is to name Central in your estate as a beneficiary to receive a gift of cash, stock, real estate, and/or other assets at the end of your life. If preferred, you can also give your estate gift now while you are still living. We recommend that you speak with your financial advisor about these options, to help you make the choice that is best for you.
